Healthy Eating

Play and Learn approach

At Play & Learn Nursery, we believe that mealtimes should be a social, happy time where skills can be developed and new and exiting foods tasted!

We have a fully trained Cook in our nursery, who prepares and cooks every meal on site, using only the freshest ingredients, including fresh fruit and vegetables. All of our meals are carefully planned to meet the individual needs and requirements of each child. All Nursery menus are created assistance from a Consultant Dietician prior to being introduced in to the Nurseries.

We have strict health and safety procedures and our nursery is regularly audited to ensure that these policies and procedure are being adhered to.

Play & Learn Nursery is also regularly inspected by the local authorities, to ensure that we are meeting standards and adhering to the procedures.

Example menu…

Mid-morning snack: Fruit

Lunch: Roast Chicken with New Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables

Pudding: Creamed Rice Pudding with Fresh Fruit puree

High-Tea: Tuna Pasta Salad with Cherry Tomatoes and Cucumber

Dessert: Homemade Biscuit

Vegetarian options are available daily and fresh fruit and yoghurt are always available as an alternative pudding / dessert.

Drink: milk, water or diluted fruit juice, are available throughout the day.

If your child has any specific requirements or special dietary requirements, Play and Learn Nursery are prepared to cater for your child on an individual basis.

We encourage all pre-school children to serve themselves at mealtimes, to develop their communication and social skills.

What if my baby is on breast milk?

We welcome you to bring expressed milk in to Nursery in bottles labelled with your child’s name. This will be given to your child at the times you state and we will record how much your child has had.
